The Zaria-Funtau, Lokoja-Benin, Bida-Mina roads are among the 44 roads considered in the Federal Executive Council’s approved Phase II of the NNPC/ Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme, Blueprint can report.
A document titled: “Proposed NNPC Limited RITCs Phase 11 list of roads for consideration, obtained by our Correspondent, revealed that the proposed roads are spread across the six geo-political zones of the country.
The FEC had three weeks ago approved an additional N1.9 trillion to reconstruct 44 roads across the country under the phase two of the scheme.
A breakdown of the list shows that a total of 11 roads were captured in the South South, 10 in the North Central; Seven in the North West; six in the North West; three in the South West, and seven in the South East.
South South
In the South South geo political zone, the proposed 11 roads include the construction of Eket Bypass (dual carriage); dualisation of Lokoja-Benin road: Obajana junction-Benin section 11 Phase 1: Okene-Auchi, Kogi/Edo states; dualisation of Lokoja-Benin road: Obajana junction-Benin section 111 Phase 1: Auchi-Ehor, Edo state; Nembe-Brass road, Bayelsa state; and the completion of Benin-Warri dual carriageway.
Other are; the East-West road (section 1), Warri-Kaiama (Delta/Bayelsa states); East-West road (section 11-1), Port Harcourt –Ahoada; East-West road (section 11-11), Ahoada—Kaiama; East-West road (section 111) Onne Junction—Eket; the dualisation of East West road (section IV) Eket Oron; and the upgrading of 15km Port Harcourt to Onne Junction.
North Central
The 10 roads listed for consideration in the North Central are, the dualisation of Minna-Bida road; reconstruction of the existing pavement and construction of the additional pavement on the dualisation of Abuja-Lokoja Highway section 111: Abaji-Koton Karfe road; construction of Jarmal-Bashar-Zuruk-Andame-Karim Lamido road in Plateau and Taraba states; dualisation of Lokoja-Beni road: Obajana junction-Benin section IV phase 1: Ehor-Benin City, Edo state; and reconstruction and expansion of Mararaba-Keffi road.
Others are; the rehabilitation of Minna-Zungeru-Tegina-Kontagora road in Niger state, section 1: Minna-Tegina; rehabilitation of Minna-Zungeru-Tegina-Kontagora road in Niger state, section 11: Tegina- Kontagora; Shendam-Yelwa-Mato junction-Taraba border with Spurs; dualisation of Suleja-Minna road in Niger state; and the dualisation of Lokoja-Benin road: Obajana-Okene, Kogi state.
South East
The roads chosen in the South East are seven, and they are; the rehabilitation of Aba-Owerri road NNPC Depot Expressway, Abia state; rehabilitation of Otuocha-Nzam-Innoma-Iheaka-Ibaji section of Otuocha-Ibaji-Odulu-Ajegwu in Anambra; construction of Ihiala-Orlu-Umuduru road(Ihiala-Amaifeke section) and the completion of Spur in Isseke town-Amafuo-Uli in Imo/Anambra states.
Others are; the rehabilitation of old Enugu-Onitsha road (OPl) junction-Ekehe Okpatu-Aboh Udi-Oji to Anambra border); construction of Omor-Umulokpa road in Anambra and Enugu states; rehabilitation of Ozalla-Akpugo-Amagunze-Ihuokpara-Nkomoro-Isu-Onicha (Enugu-Onicha) with a spur to Onunweke; and the rehabilitation of the old Enugu-Port Harcourt road (Agbogugu-Abia border spur to Mmaku).
North East
In the North East, the listed six roads are; the Yola-Mubi road; rehabilitation of Maiduguri-Mongumo road; rehabilitation of Numan-Jalingo road; rehabilitation of Yola-Hong-Mubi road in Adamawa state; reconstruction of Bali-Serti-(Gashaka)-Gembu road in Taraba state; and the rehabilitation of Yashi-Deguri road.
South west
In the South West, roads chosen are the rehabilitation and expansion of Lagos-Badagry Expressway (Agbara Junction-Nigeria/Benin Border) in Lagos State; and the dualisation of Akure-Ita Ogbolu-Iju-Ado Ekiti state border, section 1: Akure-Ita Ogbolu-Iju-Ekiti state border, Ondo state.
North West
For the North West geopolitical zone, a total of seven roads are listed under the scheme. They are; the dualisation and construction of Kano-Kwanar Dauja-Hadejia road in Kano/Jigawa states, section 1. Tsalle-Hadeji; the dualisation and construction of Kano-Kwanar Dauja-Hadejia road in Kano/Jigawa states, section 11. Kano- Tsalle, and the rehabilitation of Kaduna-Pambeguwa-Jos road in Kaduna/Plateau states.
