Yobe stages workshop to mitigate farmers-herders clash

A non-governmental organisation, International Alert, in partnership with Yobe state government Tuesday organised a two- day workshop on validation and development of community action plan to mitigate farmers- headers  clash in Gujba local government area of Yobe state.

The workshop is part of the  EU support to early recovery from conflict and resilience- building in Yobe state. It took place at CERDARS Conference Hall, Damaturu.

Speaking at the occasion, Yobe state project manager, International alert, Mr William Ubamago, said two weeks ago that they held the first phase of the workshop which was attended by stakeholders and  Fulani and farmers community in Gujba.

The Emirate Council, security agencies and key government ministries were present to witness the Peace Accord between the farmers and headers in Gujba LGA.

Ubamago stated that the workshop is aimed to forestalling the violent crises happening every year between farmers-herders in Gujba local government area.

“The essence of this workshop is to validate what was agreed between the farmers and headers in the last workshop and see how they can implement them while they hand over from the communities to the government what the communities have been able to develop as a way forward to forestall the  breakdown of law and order.
