Yobe: Buni commences renovation, expansion of health care facilities

As part of efforts to provide at least one functional health care services to the 178 political wards in Yobe state, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has approved complete renovation and expansion of Kumagannam general hospital in Yusufari Local Government Council at the cost of  N404,766,929.83.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Abba Geidam, who visited the site disclosed that work had since commenced in earnest following a meeting of all stakeholders at the community.

“The approval includes reconstruction of the main hospital complex, construction of 2 blocks of 3 bedroom flats, construction of 2 blocks of 5 Nos.1 bedroom, construction of mosque, generator house.

Others are renovation of two blocks of two bedrooms semi-detached, one block of three bedrooms, supply and installation of 115KVA generator and
provision of solar power facilities among others” he said.

While charging the contractors to exercise great sense of responsibility by adhering strictly to the Bill of Quantity signed, the permanent secretary also urged them to expedite action on the project by ensuring speedy completion within the stipulated time frame.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman Caretaker Management Committee, Alhaji Ballama A. Budu, said the hospital was of great priority to the
government. 
He further stressed that government was committed to the welfare of the common man through the provision of social infrastructure.

The construction and renovation works which are expected to be completed within four months, when completed will reduce the level of maternal and child mortality in the community which before now they had to travel some kilometers to access health care facilities.
