Oyo: Find lasting solution to recurring petrol scarcity, price hike – NUJ tasks govt

Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Monday urged government to find a lasting solution to the recurring petrol scarcity and price hike in some of parts of the state

The union in a statement by the Council Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola made available to journalists by the state Secretary Comrade Sola Oladapo condemned the lingering petrol scarcity in Ibadan and other parts of the state

According to Comrade Babalola, the recurring petrol scarcity and price hike in some of parts of the state has become a major setback to the economic development of the state and the country at large.

The Oyo state NUJ Chairman pointed out that the lingering petrol scarcity is already causing untold hardships for citizens in the state.

Comrade Babalola while lamenting that the scarcity and price increase from N750 to N800 per liter have exacerbated the economic crisis and unfavorable inflation rates in the state express expressed deep concern over the suffering of ordinary citizens, who are bearing the brunt of the scarcity.

The Oyo state NUJ Chairman called on the relevant authorities to take urgent action to address the situation

Recalled that Oyo NUJ condemnation followed the recent plight of residents of Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State in the last few days as they continue to struggle to access petrol, with many filling stations either closed or selling the product at exorbitant prices.”
