Wase urges Christians to pray for Nigeria



Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase has called on Christians to pray for God’s intervention on the challenges bedeviling the country.

Was equally called on the people not to again support elected representatives who abandon their constituents after winning elections.

The deputy speaker spoke Sunday during a thanksgiving mass in honour of the member  representing Gboko/Tarka  Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Dr. John Dyegh which took place at  St Pius Catholic Rectory, Lough, Mbatyav in Gboko local government area of  Benue state.

He said it was the responsibility of leaders to work for the benefit of their people and those who failed to live up to expectation must be shown their way out.

He stated that leaders should always be made to be accountable to those who voted them into power.

Represented by the member representing Katsina/ Ukum and Logo federal  constituency, Dr. Richard Gbande, the deputy speaker called for sustain prayers to enable leaders in the country at various levels to succeed. 

He stated further that doing so was going to help in reducing some of the   challenges leaders were facing in their bid to deliver on their mandate.

He said Dr. Dyegh was a tested and experienced lawmaker whose contributions at the National Assembly were enormous, adding  that if he had not performed well, he would not have again being voted into office.

He urged the people to continue to avail the lawmaker the needed support that will enable him continue to offer to them effective representation while at the National Assembly and beyond.

The celebrant, Dr. Dyegh informed that the thanksgiving was organised to thank God over his re-election for a third term as a member of the House of Representatives by his constituents. 

“It can only be God , for those of you who were here, you saw what happened. Out of the eleven House of Representatives seats that we have in Benue, I was the only person that won elections on the platform of the APC and like I said, only God can make such a thing happen and that is why I am here to say thank you to God.”

He charged the people to at all times keep faith in God stressing that with hard work and faith, he was able to overcome early challenges of life and sued for their continued support, pledging not to let them down.
