UPP tasks new IGP on peaceful election

The United Progressive Party (UPP) has tasked the newly appointed Acting Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed to mobilize his officers and men to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming elections.

“The nation is currently facing exceptional security challenges. It is hoped that your new position will afford you and your colleagues the opportunity to effectively restore peace and order in various flash points across the country.

“The need for effective crime prevention and control cannot be over-emphasized, more so, as the nation prepares for the 2019 general elections” the party said in a statement assuring that it would continue to partner with the Nigeria Police Force in building a strong, virile and just democratic society.

The UPP while congratulating him for his appointment urged him to bring his impressive service record to bear in his new assignment.

“It is a well-deserved appointment given your track record of patriotism, professionalism, diligence, tenacity, integrity and loyalty in the discharge of your duties, particularly as Commissioner of Police, Ekiti and Enugu States through your proactive policing and
crime prevention mechanism which stood Enugu State out as the safest State in Nigeria during the tenure of former Inspector General of Police, M.D. Abubakar, as Directing Staff at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, Plateau State, International Police (INTERPOL) Headquarters in France and Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 5 Police Command Headquarters, Benin, Edo State”, the chairman, Chief Chekwas Okorie said in the statement.
