Ugwuanyi re-affirms commitment to grassroots devt

Enugu state Governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to give priority attention to rural development where majo rity of the people reside.
Addressing members of a delegation from Mburubu, Nkanu East local government area that was at the Government House, Enugu, on a thank you visit, Ugwuanyi said his administration had identified three council areas of Nkanu East, Awgu and Uzo-Uwani for intervention due to peculiar challenges of dearth of infrastructure.
According to him, the decision to concentrate development in the rural areas became imperative because there were urgent need to uplift the level of development at the grassroots.
Ugwuanyi urged the delegation led by the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Enugu, Mr. Patrick Onuh, to continue to offer special prayers for improvement in the revenue of the state “so that government will be able to attend to your needs.”

He added that it was as a result of lack of link road network from Amechi Idodo to Amagunze, the headquarters of Nkanu East local government area that his administration decided to reconstruct the all important Inyaba Bridge in the area.
The governor, who enjoined the people to support his administration to succeed, assured them that despite the economic hardship, government would continue to attend to their needs.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Patrick Onuh, said they were in the Government House, Enugu, to show appreciation to His Excellency for appointing one of their sons, Engr. D. C. Chukwu, SSA on ICT, stressing that Mburubu community, since its history in the state, had not had it so good.
In their separate interviews, the SSA on ICT, Engr. D.C. Chukwu and the chairman, Nkanu East Transitional Caretaker Committee, Mr. Ubagu Godwin, thanked the governor for his laudable programmes and policies to the people, including the appointment of some of their sons and daughters, into positions of authority.
