Teacher, theatre practitioner in police net over alleged rape in Osun


A public school teacher, Mr Gbenga Samson Ayenioye, and his friend, a theatre practitioner, Mr Tunde AmokeOja, have been apprehended by Osun state police command, for allegedly raping a teenage girl (name withheld).


It was gathered that Ayenioye, a Financial Accounting teacher at Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo, invited the girl, who  was said to be one of his students, to a chalet at Latona area in Osogbo, on Sunday, February 16, 2020, and allegedly forced the 16-year-old girl to bed in one of the rooms at the relaxation centre.


It was learnt that the suspect also introduced the girl to his friend, AmokeOja, to assist in developing her film acting skills in order to be able to raise funds for her WAEC fee.


It was gathered that AmokeOja allegedly asked the teenage girl to meet him at Delightful Gold hotel along Onibueja road, Osogbo, to feature in a film on February 18, 2020, where she was allegedly raped. 


The duo of the suspects had threatened their victim not to disclose her ordeal to anyone and advised her to take water with plenty salt after which the girl bled for 15days. 


The victim was said to have narrated her story to a Non-governmental organisation in the state, Value Female Network (VFN), during a counseling. 


The head of the gender unit of the NGO,  Moriike Yaagboyaaju, confirmed that the victim informed the NGO that she was raped by the duo of the suspects. 


The Dugbe police division that arrested the suspects confirmed the transfer of the matter to the Criminal Investigative Department of the Police Force in Osogbo.


The two suspects were detained at the CID in Osogbo while the Family Unit of the CID has been making arrangements to arraign the suspects.


The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
