Teacher association to sanction members

Chairman, National Association of Education Secretaries of Nigeria (NAESN), FCT chapter, Mr. Solomon Ayuba Dagami, disclosed that the association had put on strong punitive measures to sanction erring teachers.

He made the disclosure in a chat with Blueprint in Gwagwalada area council while applauding the FCT Administration for the payment of salaries to teachers in the Territory as at when due.

He enjoined teachers to reciprocate the gesture by showing commitment and dedication to their primary assignment.

Dagami, who doubles as the education secretary, Local Education Authority (LEA) in charge of Bwari area council, reiterated commitment to checkmate the activities of teachers aimed at making them to function efficiently.

The chairman stressed the readiness of the association to improve the standard of basic education in the six area councils of the Territory, just as he pointed out that the association had been collaborating with various stakeholders to initiate programmes that would enhance the quality of teaching and learning in both primary and junior secondary schools.

The Bwari LEA scribe tasked government to employ qualified teachers, paying attention to teachers’ welfare as well as payment of retirement benefit to teachers among other incentive to serve as motivation to teaching profession.

The NAESN boss encouraged members to continue to support him with a view to achieving the aims and objectives of forming the association aimed at improving standard of education in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The secretary enumerated his achievements to include establishment additional schools, provision of instructional materials to enhance teaching, as well as encouraging teaching and non-teaching staff to acquire additional qualifications.
