Stakeholders query Nasarawa state presidential result

Political parties and agents have queried the result of the presidential election in Nasarawa State where , Azubuike Sunny Nwankwo the INEC Returning officer announced that a total of 157, 593 votes were cancelled across seven LGAs in the State.

He listed the local government areas as Keffi, Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia, Akwanga among others.

Quoting reports of the various Electoral Officers (EOs), the Returning officer said the cancellation was as a result of over voting and gangsterism of the voters.

But not satisfied with explanation given for the massive cancellation, the stakeholders wondered why there could that over voting to scale to warrant the cancellation when simultaneous accreditation and voting was used in the process.

The stakeholders requested the INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu to get to the root of the cancellation in Nasarawa state which some of the parties believe was premeditated to not only disenfranchise the voters but more worrisome, to stop the true winner of the election in the state to emerge.

Less than six thousand votes separate APC and PDP in the tally . Already, PDP had claimed victory in that state.
APC had 289,903 while PDP polled 283, 827 in.the state.
