Sokoto: Tambuwal appreciates workers’ efforts to turn economy around

The Sokoto state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has praised the civil servants in the state over efforts to turn around the state economy.

The governor stated this while thousands of workers converged at the historic Giginya Memorial Stadium, Sokoto, on the occasion of this year’s May Day celebration.

Tambuwal noted that the state economy was built based on their efforts and it did not go unnoticed.

He said throughout his stay in office, he enjoyed a harmonious working relationship with civil servants in the state.

Tambuwal added that the state government has been up and doing to make the Sokoto state civil servants happy and more efficient.

He said despite the economic hardship the government had last year gave out thousands of motorcycle loan to junior cadre staff in order to ease their transportation problem.

The governor urged the NLC to extend similar support and cooperation to the incoming administration

In his speech, the Sokoto state chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu (Jugle), said it has been a great year of struggle for the workers in the state for the course of their welfare.

He said a lot of welfare packages have been secured and other industrial issues have been resolved through numerous meetings and consultations with state government.
