Shun cultism, embrace positive learning, Enugu Speaker enjoins Nigerian youth

Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu, has advised the Nigerian youth to shun cultism and other social vices because of their negative consequences.

Hon Ugwu who made this call at the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC), Enugu while handing over a trophy to the winner of 2024 Enugu Catholic Diocese Educational Football Tournament, St Patrick Secondary School Emene, urged them to embrace positive learning for academic excellence and a better future.

While advising the students to study hard for a better future, the Speaker enjoined them to be God-fearing and as well as putting God first in whatever they did, stating that it would help them to achieve success in life.

The lawmaker thanked the cleric and tutors who helped to organise the tournament, stressing that he sponsored the competition to inspire the students to show more interest in sporting activities.

“I am happy to be here today with the students. You have made me proud and I want to assure you our maximum support to ensure that your talents are harnessed.

“You have to study hard for a better future, shun cultism and other social vices that will not allow you to concentrate on your studies. A good education is key for a better future,” he said.

Also speaking, the co-sponsor of the tournament, Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze, said the main purpose was to develop the children mentally, physically and spiritually so that they would meet up with other needs of their lives.
