Shekau, a mad man awaiting his waterloo – Buratai

Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has described the purported leader of Boko Haram insurgents, Abubakar Shekau, as “a mad man who is awaiting his waterloo.”
Buratai said this yesterday in Yola, Adamawa state, while responding to questions from journalists on the latest video clip released by the Boko Haram factional leader.
Shekau, on Sunday, released a video where he denied claim by the military that he was wounded badly during an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force fighter jets last month.
Army spokesperson, Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman, had, on Sunday, described Shekau as “mentally ill and unstable,” in a statement, while reacting to the video clip.
Usman said the ranting by Shekau was also another sign that the end was near for him and his group.
Buratai, who was in Yola for a two-day conference on Peace Building and Reconstruction in the Chad Basin, organised by the Centre for Peace and Security Studies, Madibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, in conjunction with the Nigerian Army, said the army authorities had nothing to respond to the Boko Haram factional leader than “he is already a mad man and he is on his way to his waterloo”.
“It is good that at this point the issue of peace building is being tabled for further analysis and discussions, as an advice for the government to see how it can ameliorate the challenges the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are facing,” he said.
