Shekarau’s wife donates food items to disabled

Wife of former governor of Kano state, Hajiya Halima Ibrahim Shekarau, has donated food items to disabled persons in Kano as part of this year’s Ramadan gesture. Speaking to newsmen shortly after distributing the food items to hundreds of men, women and children at the residence of the former governor in Kano yesterday, Shekarau said the gesture was informed by the need to assist the less-privileged in need of urgent assistance and relief.
She pointed out that that Ramadan provides ample opportunity for the ealthy individuals in the society to seek the bounties of God and earn his reward, affirming that supporting the less-privileged to earna comfortable living would be the best way to bring one closer to God.
She said every human being has the potential to give his immense contribution to the socio-economic development of the nation in all spheres of human development, stressing that being physically handicapped does not mean that one is totally handicapped. She called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the items for the period of Ramadan, stressing, however, that utilising the items judiciously is the best way of appreciating the gesture.
