The SERVICOM presidency has called on the banking industry and National Assembly to make it a key project to support the Industrial Trust Fund (ITF) in the area of manpower and capacity- building to improve Nigeria’s economy.
The national coordinator, SERVICOM presidency, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, stated this recently, during the formal presentation of SERVICOM Compliance Evaluation reports to the management of ITF in Abuja.
She said such initiative would build the economy nationally. “If you can have professional artisans that are properly licensed to the level that we can export them, it is huge Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for Nigeria to show that the job done on individual on organisational basis, is quality. So, we don’t have to go outside Nigeria to export foreign artisans because at this stage, we will have our own grown, suitable for our economy or purpose here. And so, what this evaluation is also opening up to, is for more support, results, and encouragement reports etc to grow the economy.
“Remember I just said that if we can have a crop of properly and professional plumbers, tiles, i.e. properly trained artisans, this new trained of solar, we can have even make labour cheaper on the specific area of interests. And it will take up huge numbers of unemployed people away from our streets, communities.
“I also suggested that they engage as key stakeholders, traditional rulers and village heads and church leaders so they can have properly structured of feeding in new aspirants, intending new trainers or trainees, aligning with them, having more master craftsmen located around our villages and communities so they can easily attach the trainees to the master craft trainers which will make it a lot easier. And then, ITF will be doing better for the nation and they’re also thinking of e-registeration for all their key training programs. And this will also help, seeing a lot of transparency and the intentional planning of the starter packs at the end of the training to match the number that they are also recruiting is also very key.”
