Sani merits his appointment by Tinubu

It’s no longer news that Dr. Muhammad Sani, former commissioner for basic education in Yobe state, was appointed as the executive secretary and chief executive officer of the Almajiri Education Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 18, 2024. Mr. President has unquestionably made a good choice by appointing a religious person like Muhammad Sani.

Mallam Sani holds master’s and doctorate degrees in Islamic Studies. It is quite an added advantage to have someone deeply religious to manage the affairs of such an organisation. All hail Mr. President. Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state also deserves commendation for his relentless effort towards making this appointment a reality.

However, Dr. Sani may sound unfamiliar to many, but his track record speaks for itself. The executive secretary is an astute administrator who has been contributing to the education sector of Yobe state and the nation at large for decades. He has, on a series of occasions, also been actively involved in engaging students in the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an at El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology in Maiduguri, Borno state.

As the director of El-Kanemi, Dr. Sani graduated thousands of memorisers of the Holy Qur’an. This demonstrates that Sani is well-positioned to bring about positive changes in revamping the Almajiri system and, by extension, reducing, if not eliminating, the high number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

When he was appointed as the commissioner for basic and secondary education in Yobe state, Sani wasted no time to summon education inspectors, and delivering a stern message. First, he stressed the importance of patriotism towards the state’s development. Second, he emphasised the commitment to furthering the transformation agenda of Governor Buni; and third, he urged them to identify all possible needs to revitalise basic education in Yobe state.

In his effort to make the students of secondary schools more active, Sani ensured that students were given foodstuffs. Despite the school feeding programme, Sani fully committed himself to feeding students with sumptuous nice and nutritious meals.

Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss El-Bulaturee is a leader of rare qualities. His leadership style, rooted in his background as an Islamic scholar and educator, is unparalleled.

Rising from a teacher to the reputable positions of principal, director of El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology Maiduguri, and director general of Al-Iman Schools Nigeria, his expertise extends to consultancy services for government and private institutions, both nationally and internationally.

In a nutshell, I commended President Asiwaju’s greenlight administration for selflessly finding Dr. Sani worthy of such an appointment and extensively say a word of accolade to Governor Buni, for standing behind Sani.

Kasim Isa Muhammad,
