Revert to old national anthem, Anglican cleric urges FG

The Lord Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru in Imo state, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Maduwike, has urged the federal government to revert to the old national anthem.

The bishop bared his mind during the 3rd Session of the Fifth Synod of the Diocese at the St Jude’s Anglican Church, Atta, Ikeduru in the state.

He said it would remind both present leaders and selfish politicians what ” our forebears had in mind in forming what has now become an unholy marriage”.

Maduwike lamented that the country had been battered with many avoidable problems such as corruption, religiosity, senseless killings, kidnapping, election rigging and manipulation, massive youth unemployment, insecurity, banditry and insurgence.

He noted that because of cyber-crime, the youth were massively tilting towards idolatry, tribalism and nepotism, describing “tribalism” and “nepotism” as the two sisters that had never allowed the country to move forward. He added that the much talked about “One Nigeria” was in theory and not in practice.
