Reps hold national dialogue on state police, others 

The House of Representatives, in collaboration with the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), FCDO/UKAID, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is set to hold a One-Day National Dialogue on Security and State Police.

Spokesman of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi, stated that “the primary objective of this dialogue is to facilitate a comprehensive national discussion on the merits and challenges of state police, with focus on aggregating citizens’ views and perspectives. 

“The event also aims to propose models as well as institutional and legal frameworks for the effective implementation of state policing in Nigeria, and aligned with the Legislative Agenda of the 10th Assembly House of Representatives, which seeks to develop legislative measures to address the prevailing security challenges in Nigeria.”

He said the dialogue complements the president’s ongoing efforts to reform and strengthen the country’s security architecture for optimal performance.

The event, expected to hold Monday, 22nd April, 2024 in Abuja, will have Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief Federal Republic of Nigeria as Guest of Honour and Senator Godwill Akpabio, CON, President of the Senate as Chairmen of Sessions.
