Rep donates 1,000 COVID-19 test kits in Edo

House of Representatives member, Mr Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama (Edo-PDP), has donated test kits to the people of Edo as part of efforts to contain the spread of  COVID-19 in the country.

The lawmaker, who represents Oredo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, donated the kits, about 1000 of them, in Benin  Monday.

Ogbeide-Ihama said the gesture would enable more people to get tested as soon as possible.

The lawmaker appealed to the people to stay safe and adhered to all precaution as advised by the government.

He said the only way the virus would be wiped out is for Nigerians to work together.

Reacting to the development, Mr Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor, Edo South senatorial district chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), commended the lawmaker for leading by example.

“On behalf of the good people of Edo South senatorial district in general and PDP family in particular, I want to sincerely thank Ogbeide-Ihama for donating 1000 coronavirus test kits to the people of Edo.

“This is leadership by example.

“You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership,” Ogieva-Okunbor said.

Ogieva-Okunbor enjoined other lawmakers and politicians to emulate Ogbeide-Ihama by contributing their quota to containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

He also lauded the efforts of the federal and state governments so far in the fight against the virus and urged the people to adhere to the safety rules and regulations being put in place to contain its spread. (NAN)
