The founder, African Governance Institute for Development, (AGID), Hon. Seyi Adisa, has said quality leadership and good governance are the solutions to the mirage of challenges bedeviling African continent.

Hon. Adisa said this in Ibadan weekend when he led delegation from AGID to the University of Ibadan during which a mutual partnership with the university on training of youths on good governance and leadership was secured.

Hon Adisa, said AGID is creating an institute where youths undergo short courses on governance and leadership, with practitioners who epitomises the values of good governance and value-based leadership from across Africa and especially within Nigeria.

The AGID founder added that the aim of the courses which he believed would transform into award rewarding programmes in the future, was to mentor and transform youth who want to venture into politics, public sector, or hold public offices, empowering them with necessary skills and values ahead.

He pointed out that he is leveraging on his relationships and network across Africa to bring in experienced governance and leadership practitioners as faculty, as well as distinguished professors and academics within the university to provide experiential learning for the several short courses with a view to reshaping the mindsets of those going into public service.

Receiving the delegation from AGID, vice chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, represented by the deputy vice chancellor, administration, University of Ibadan, Professor Ezekiel Ayoola described the organisation’s initiative as a way forward in the nation’s leadership and governance system.
