Kaduna Electric advocates partnership with host communities, tertiary institutions

The Managing Director/CEO of Kaduna Electric, Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu has called for strong synergy and partnership between the business community and institutions of higher learning to create more innovative solutions to address the myriad of societal challenges.

The Kaduna Electric boss made the assertion Thursday in Zaria when he led the management of the company on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria.

According to Dr. Umar Hashidu, “Both Kaduna Electric and Ahmadu Bello University have  symbiotic responsibilities as agents of positive change and drivers of creativity, innovations and molders of character and personalities of future leaders that will be piloting the affairs of the country.”

He promised to avail Ahmadu Bello University with the abundant scholarship resources and practical experiences in Kaduna Electric for the use of the students, who may wish to deepen their knowledge of power systems and the economics of Nigerian electricity supply industry.

Dr. Hashidu also said sustainable improvement in electricity services delivery would remain elusive until Nigerians accept the fact that anything that has value must be paid for.

“The clamour for efficient and steady electricity services in this Country without the corresponding commitment to bear the cost will remain an optical illusion; we must collectively accept the fact that there is cost to everything that have value; we must be committed to foot this cost to guarantee sustainability,” he asserted.

In his response, the vice chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, expressed the university’s satisfaction with the quality of services being rendered by the Distribution Company and appealed for consideration on the tariff band.

He reiterated the commitment of the university to ensure prompt and timely settlement of their electricity bills.

He also called on the management of Kaduna Electric to make good use of the expansive reservoir of research findings lying in the university to improve its performance.
