Plateau Baptist seeks security restructuring, community policing

Members of the Baptist Church in Plateau have called on the federal government to heed to advice and restructure security composition of the country.
The Church speaking through its President, Rev.
Koeleh Saleh, said the resurgence of killings showed that the government should restructure the security composition to avert further bloodshed.
“The federal government should as a matter of urgency heed to the clarion call to restructure the security composition, because 99 per cent of the security chiefs represent one religious group,” the Church said.
According to the Church, the resolve by the National Assembly to review the constitution to create state police is in the best interest of vulnerable states.
“We urge that this legislative process in giving due diligence to the needs of each state in the country is granted presidential ascent without delay,” the Church added.
The church said of the several lives that were lost in the recent attacks, 37 were its members.
The Church acknowledged the effort of the state government in seeking ways of mitigating the effect of the attacks by the recent decision to build a trauma hospital in Riyom axis.
