Philippines govt recognises Nigeria’s Emmanuel Akpakwu

The Consul at the Republic of Philippines Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria, Emmanuel Akpakwu, has been congratulated for his “outstanding services and contributions in various fields to the growth and development of The Philippines.

The Charge d’ Affaires and Consul General of the Embassy of The Philippines, His Excellency, Roderico Atienza, gave the commendation during the country’s 125th Independence Day anniversary celebrations on June 12, 2023, in Abuja.

Blueprint reports that the event which was held at the Embassy of the Philippines in Abuja was attended by distinguished guests, diplomats, communities of Filipino in Nigeria and officials from both nations.

This was contained in a press statement issued in Abuja by Consul Akpakwu’s media consultant, Dr. Igomu Joseph Augustine.

It indicated that during the ceremony, the Consul General presented a Certificate of Appreciation of Services to the People of Philippines to Consul Akpakwu.

The certificate recognises Consul Akpakwu’s invaluable services and contributions in the areas of economic, cultural, and public diplomacy.

“Consul Akpakwu has been instrumental in fostering stronger ties between the Republic of the Philippines and Nigeria, particularly in the realms of economic cooperation and cultural exchange. Through his diligent efforts, he has facilitated significant collaborations and partnerships between the two nations, thus paving the way for enhanced trade and cultural understanding.

“His commitment to public diplomacy has been evident in his dedication to establishing fruitful relationships with Nigerian government officials, thereby promoting mutual cooperation and fostering a positive image of the Philippines in Nigeria,” the consul-general said.

Responding, Consul Akpakwu expressed gratitude to the Embassy of the Philippines and congratulated Filipino all over the world for their country’s 125th independence anniversary.

He stressed his commitment to further promote bilateral relations, cultural exchange, and to facilitate mutual growth between the two nations.
