Perm Sec inaugurates anti-corruption unit

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Dr Henry Akpan, has inaugurated an Anti-Corruption Transparency Monitoring Unit (ACTMU) for the Ministry, saying this was to ensure that there is probity, transparency and accountability.
In a statement by the Assistant Director, Press and Public Relation, Olusola Abiola, Akpan He noted that corruption has been of great concern to government in view of its adverse effect on the development of the country.

He stated that anti-Corruption Transparency Monitoring Unit (ACTU) in ministries and agencies are established to serve as the Implementing Arms of Independent Corrupt Practices, and other related offenses Commission (ICPC) charged to nip corruption in the bud.
He however charged members of the  unit to demonstrate high sense of commitment in the discharge of their duties, while tasking them to create awareness and sensitize staff of the ills and consequence of corruption.

Representing the ICPC Chairman, Ekpo Nta Esq, Mr. Gaji Barnabas, pointed out that ACTMU has the capacity of making Ministry of Youth Development a model in corruption prevention  if properly deployed.
Earlier, the Head of ACTU Mr. Wada Thomas assured that stated that the committee will not abuse such trust and confidence reposed on them.
