The maiden edition of Kaduna state private schools games will kick off on June 7th, this year with 25 private schools in Kaduna already indicated intention to participate in the one day event.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Coach Felix Osiebe told sportswriters in Kaduna yesterday that the competition is aimed to select sporting talents from Kaduna state that will be nurtured to represent the state at national level.
According to Felix, Kaduna state has been left out from the national competitions because no competition has been held in the state, adding that as the maiden edition, effort has been geared towards ensuring successful competition.
The Kaduna state private school games is expected to feature mainly athletics with the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna scheduled to host the games.
“The Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is expected to officiate in all the events and has assured that the rules of the games will be strictly adhered to.
“We are also working very hard round the clock to check mercenaries Any school that engages in using mercenary will not only be banned from the competition, but will be published in national dailies to serve as deterrent to others. The aim of this games is not winning but spirit of participation and hunt for talents,” the chief organiser added.
