PDP’s state of confusion

By Koleoso Adelowo

Since March 28, 2015 when Nigerians voted out the treasury looting party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its elements, the party has gone into total disarray, state of confusion and wandering aimlessly on the political scene. The party did not expect what befell it. Up till now, the party is yet to recover from the shock of defeat it suffered. It will not recover because all the lies of PDP are being revealed on daily basis as corruption reigned supreme through the irresponsible manner with which the party administered the nation while in office.

It is getting crystal clear now why PDP goes on media attacks, wild speculations and destructive criticisms. Right from when the party lost power and political relevance in Nigerian politics, it has found it difficult to maintain its own rating as Africa’s largest political party. Its public rating has been eroded beyond expectation because all the lies and propaganda the party were churning out have been exposed. Nobody worth his/her pedigree is ready to identify with the party again. Even those the party relied on have denied being part of the party because of its fraudulent disposition.

Nobody is ready to taint and stake his/her hard earned reputation by identifying with PDP anymore. When the party was hell bent on returning to power, the party did not expect to have performed so woefully, awfully and dismally in the elections it has positioned itself to win on the platform of self-estimation, self-delusion and misconception of ‘popularity’.
PDP has been misleading those that care to listen to its propaganda machinery under the guise of criticisms for the sake of criticisms.
Shamefully, as soon as the party secretariat discovered they lost election, things began to fall apart between the then President Goodluck Jonathan and his party secretariat.

The President was accused by the party information machinery for his tilting and doing things only with the Presidential Campaign Organization instead of liaising with the party secretariat. The National Publicity Secretary, PS, Barr. Olisah Metuh, accused the Jonathan Campaign Organisation of being responsible for PDP’s failure at the poll.
To the chagrin of the public, another bomb shell was dropped when the then [resident and those that matter in the party shunned a meeting organized to appraise its dismal performance in the election.

In the said meeting, the party decided to look inwardly for the reason(s) that led to its woeful failure. It discovered it shouldn’t have committed the unpardonable zoning of its presidential race in 2011 to the South-south. This was medicine after death because that decision was the beginning of the party’s failure. But it did not realise this until after the 2015 general election when people moved against the stealing and looting party.
Having realized its costly mistake, it turned round to zone its party’s presidential race to the North. Not only zoned to the North, let PDP zone its party flag bearer to Katisna or better still, Daura where President Muhammadu Buhari hails from.

The decision will still not save the party from winning or getting any reprieve from the aggrieved masses of this nation, whose common inheritance were stolen foolishly, madly and brazenly.
How can a party that knows the monumental fraud it has committed against the people of this nation turn-around to seek forgiveness? Apology? No way. Let the party and its members return all the looted funds from the coffers of the treasury back to the treasury before it seeks for reprieve and forgiveness. Anything short of refund of the stolen funds, PDP will be wasting its time because the offence committed is tantamount to treasonable felony.  More revelations are gradually unfolded.

Not done with that decision, the party went ahead to organize another conference where it made the former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida chairman of the occasion in a bid at looking for relevance at all cost. The elder statesman disclaimed his association with such conference as he has for long deregistered himself as a member of the party. Yes, IBB was right. If I were the one, I will do the same because PDP has completely lost its relevance.
