PDP stages LG congress, elects delegates in Edo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state, Saturday, conducted it’s Local Government Area (LGA) delegates’ congress ahead of the February 21, 2024 governorship primary election.

The party adopted option A4 for the congress which was conducted by two  officials from its National headquarters.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies also monitored the exercise.

Speaking with journalists at the Western Boys High School, venue for Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Mr. Yusuf Bukhari, a member of the PDP described the congress as the best ever conducted by the party since 1999.

Also, a Chieftain of the party in Egor LGA, Mr. Festus Omoregbe, who spoke at Eghosa grammer school expressed satisfaction with the exercise and thanked the party leadership.

Up to 17 delegates were elected during the peaceful election which held across 17 local government areas. 

The election didn’t however hold in Etsako Central LGA.

Blueprint gathered that the delegates election was councelled in Etsako Central, following the abduction of electoral officials during last week’s ward congresses.

The officials were on their way to the LGA where they were reportedly kidnaped at Jattu.
