APC Vanguard lauds EFCC over campaign against Matawalle

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing Mobilisation Vanguard said those instigating the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) against the Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Matawalle are doing so because they are ignorant of the law.

Chairman of the Vanguard, Alhaji Ashiru Tukur, who stated this in a statement on Thursday told the “sponsored protesters” that no amount of such propaganda against Matawalle and former governor of Zamfara state, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, would stand once they are delivering on their mandates.

He, however, commended the EFCC for “rubbishing” the protesters and their sponsors by reminding them not to teach the agency how to do its job.

“While commending the EFCC for rubbishing these sponsored protesters that have lost focus on the constitutional duty and the modus operandi of the anti-graft agency, we call on the commission to go after the sponsors of these protests for constituting nuisance around.

“Our findings have shown that some of these characters traveled from their states, using public funds to mobilise, and hire jobless youths in Abuja to intensify their propaganda and campaign of calumny against the perceived political enemies.

“These are political jobbers who have abandoned their constituents to poverty, insecurity and economic challenges back home only to come to the Nigeria seat of power and waste public resources in their bid to pursue a mission to nowhere leveraging allegations without substance.

“For example, those campaigning against the former governor of Zamfara state and current Minister of State Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, are ignorant of the law, due process, and modus operandi of institutions like EFCC.

“They have forgotten that the same man they are accusing was screened by the Department of State Security (DSS), EFCC, and other relevant security agencies before they were confirmed by the National Assembly.”
