Oyetola urges corps members to promote unity

Osun state Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, has advised corps members posted to the state to always promote unity.


Speaking at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Monday, during the closing ceremony of the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1, Oyetola advised the corps members to embrace the habit that society can be proud of and get away with ‘get rich quick’ syndrome.


Oyetola who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Charles Akinola, charged the corps members to be diligent and be occupied with practices that family, society and younger generations can be proud of.


He said the corps members must embark on project and actions that are capable of promoting peace and unity in the communities they are posted to.

“Do not look down on the people of your host communities but rather love them and do them good at all times. Reject the ‘get rich quick’ syndrome and rather work hard and diligently towards becoming someone you, your family, society and the younger generation can be proud of.


The NYSC state coordinator, Mr. Adegoke Ayodele, disclosed that 2,401 corps members were deployed to the state. He said 70 percent of them have been posted to various educational institutions to impact knowledge to the younger ones.


He charged the corps members to take skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme serious.


He said the programme is aimed at building capacity of corps members to gain the requirements of entrepreneurial and hands-on skills to cope with the challenges of unemployment in Nigeria.
