Over 1000 Kogi Central students benefit from 2023 WAEC scholarship 




Over one thousand final year students of secondary schools in central senatorial district of Kogi state have benefited from 2023 WAEC scholarship programme sponsored by Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere, the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The education intervention programme was facilitated by Ebira Youth Congress (EYC) to assist parents in paying WAEC fees of their children.

Speaking during the distribution of cheques to the benefiting indigent students selected across all the secondary schools in Kogi Central on Wednesday in Okene, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Folashade Ayo-Ade Arike, described education as the only legacy parents could  bequeath to their children in order to make them useful and successful in the society.

Arike, who was delighted over the intervention charged other well meaning individuals, politicians and corporate organizations in the state to emulate the kind gesture of Engr. Abubakar Sadiku Ohere the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25th general elections.

While charging parents and relations of the benefiting students to reciprocate the gesture by voting en masse for the APC candidate, Arike admonished the students to be committed to their studies to enable them come out with good results to justify the assistance rendered to them.

In his address, the National President of EYC, Aliyu Ateiza Obiyo, disclosed that each of the students was given a cheque of N26, 000 to pay their West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees to enable them qualify for the examination.

Obiyo who described Engr. Ohere as a problem solver, said the politician has put smile on the faces of many people through his intervention in health, education and empowerment of youth and women.

The youth leader expressed optimism that the central senatorial candidate if given the mandate to represent the district at the National Assembly more dividend of democracy would be delivered to the people and charged the electorate  to support him to emerge as the next senator of the district.
