Our suspension counter-productive -Butu-Butu

One of the five legislators who were suspended from the Kano state House of Assembly for alleged official misconduct, has described the suspension as illegal and counterproductive.

Speaking on behalf of the suspended members hours after the pronouncement by the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa, Butu-Butu stated that there was no justifiable premise for the leader of the house to effect such a unilateral decision adding that for whatever reason, the rules governing the conduct of the operations of the legislative body must be strictly adhered to.

According to him, if under any circumstances the house considered them for any sanction, their alleged official misconduct must be referred to the House ethics and disciplinary committee for appropriate action stressing that on the reasons adduced by the leadership of the house, such suspension lacked an iota of legality.
