Osimhen, other Super Eagles hit Portugal camp ahead of Saudi Arabia, Mozambique clash

Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen is among 20 invited Super Eagles players in Faro Portugal, in preparation for an international friendly matches with Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

Other players are Francis Uzoho, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Jordan Torunarigha, Kenneth Omeruo, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bruno Onyemaechi, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Ayodele-Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Terem Moffi, Victor Boniface, Umar Sadiq, Tyronne Ebuehi, and Chidozie Awaziem.

Raphael Onyedika, Kekechi Iheanacho, and new invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are expected to arrive later on Wednesday, bringing the number to 23 on the second day of camp opening.

Goalkeeping duo Olorunleke Ojo and Adebayo Adeleye are two of the unexpected arrivals, leaving Uzoho as the only goalkeeper at the disposal of the three-time African champions for both matches.

The Super Eagles take on the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in the city of Portimão, Portugal, on Friday, October 13, 2023, starting at 5 pm., before a clash with the Mambas of Mozambique in the same city three days later.

Peseiro recalled defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Bright Osayi-Samuel, as well as midfielder Alex Iwobi and forward Terem Moffi to the Super Eagles’ squad for this month’s international friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal.

The quartet were absent from the team that demolished Sao Tome and Principe in last month’s 2023 AFCON qualifier in Uyo.

Both encounters have been arranged as tune-up games for Jose Paseiro’s team ahead of the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, in which they will host Lesotho’s Crocodiles in Uyo on November 17 before travelling to play Zimbabwe four days later.
