Ortom’s aide harps on need to protect public utilities

Special Adviser to Benue state Governor on Media and ICT, Mr. Tahav Agerzua, has stressed the need for communities to protect public utilities provided for them.
Agerzua gave the charge at the weekend while handing over a rehabilitated motorised borehole at the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Primary School, Akerior, to the Kindred Head of Nyav, in Utange ward of Ushongo local government area, Chief Mvaaorga Ubo. He said since members of the community were the beneficiaries of such projects, it was their responsibility to protect them against vandalism. The Governor’s aide expressed regrets that the borehole had been vandalised twice to the detriment of users.

Project coordinator, Mr. Orduen Aernan, alias Okroman, disclosed that Agerzua had drilled three new motorised boreholes and rehabilitated five hand-pump ones at Akerior market, Hundagar, Dinyam, and Tyozua in Utange council ward, as well as Orban in Lessel Township. He said the sponsor had also stepped down electricity at the LGEA Primary School, Akerior, to power the borehole and bought electricity generators even as he provided funds for fuel to pump water for regular supply to beneficiaries free of charge.
