Orphanage home marks 10th anniversary, offers FCT residents free medical treatment

An Abuja-based non-governmental organisation, Lasisi Charity Foundation and Orphanage Home, Monday, celebrated its 10th anniversary and provided free medical services, including health assessment and on-the-spot free treatment to scores of the FCT residents.

The anniversary, which was marked at the organisation’s office at Federal Housing, Lugbe, also coincided with the birthday of the founder of the foundation, Mrs Success Ebierebo Motajo.

Speaking to journalists at the sideline of the event, Motajo, who thanked God for her new age, remarked that she started the foundation 10 years ago in the continuation of her late mother’s service to humanity, saying that she is fulfilled serving humanity.

She explained that at age 14, her mother would sacrifice her comfort for the less privileged, who came to her for childbirth, saying that at times, she would use her savings to buy baby materials for the newborn babies.

Ten years later, Matajo, who noted that she named the foundation after her late mother, who according to her, died three years after the establishment of the organisation, said her dream of helping the needy had come to pass.

Also speaking, the husband of the founder, Ambassador Julius Gbolahan Motajo, who recalled that her wife sought his permission to float a foundation, said 10 years down the line, she has not disappointed him.

Motajo, who described his wife as a lover of humanity, and a dutiful wife, also remarked that the free medical outreach was part of the activities lined up to mark the foundation’s anniversary and her wife’s birthday; adding that it was one of the ways of giving back to the society.

The Chief of Tundun-Wada Lugbe, Alhaji Mohammadu Usman, who led some of his subjects to the events, thanked the foundation and its founder for the free medical outreach in his community and pledged his support to the organisation.
