NYC lauds Buhari over P-YES initiative

The Nigeria Youth Congress (NYC) has commended  President Muhammadu Buhari for the establishment of the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme Programme (P-YES).

The NYC President, Comrade Blessing Akinlosotu in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, commended the president and his Senior Special Assistant on Youth and Students Affairs, Nasir Adhama, for their support for the Nigerian youths.

He described P-YES as one of many of the president’s keen commitment to ensuring that the youths of the nation are placed in proper perspective.

Akinlosotu said:  “The president had approved every November 1st as a National Youth Day to celebrate Nigerian youths. Also, in the current Nigeria’s 2021 budget, the president had promised scholarships for the Nigerian youths which is also a win-win for the Nigerian youths.

” Similarly, the president had approved the 75 billion Naira Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) to serve as a sort of youth bank that will fund and support innovative ideas, skills and talent of Nigerian youths.

“The P-YES is an indication that the president is youth-friendly and values the place of youths in governance.

“It is at this point that the NYC commends the dogged efforts of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youths and sports, Hon. Nasir Adhama for his unflinching quest for youth growth in Nigeria.

“He has shown that in his capacity he leverages on the president’s interest on youths to render selfless service to the youths.His labour in ensuring youths make progress is not in vain.

“We hope that the P-YES programme will be a starting point to curb unemployment and other social vices among the youths”.
