No splinter group in AAU – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma has said that there was no splinter ASUU  group known as Congress of University Academics (CONUA).

The Chairman, ASUU, AAU, Ekpoma, Mr. Monday Igbafen, and Anthony Coker, Secretary, in a communiqué after the union’s congress said media report of a splinter group known as Congress of University Academics (CONUA) in the institution was misleading.

The communiqué further stated, “the report do not reflect the position on ground at AAU”.

According to the communiqué, “the two persons who are lecturers in AAU Ekpoma identified as promoters of the purported  CONUA, namely Dr. H.O.T Iyawe and Dr. Ernest Nwoke are members of ASUU, AAU Ekpoma.

“Besides they (lecturers) are on suspension from the union for transgressions against the association’s  rules and ethics.

“The congress states categorically that aside from these two persons, there is no other academic staff in AAU, Ekpoma who is known to belong to CONUA.”
