Nigeria’s turbulent challenges surmountable – Malagi

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has said Nigeria’s turbulent challenges  are nsurmountable despite the ongoing reforms that had inflicted hardship  on the nation.

Addressing a cream of media practitioners at a special Ramadan Iftar held in Kano Wednesday, Idris stated that the Tinubu administration remained focused and fully committed to sustaining the giant strides it had effected for the nation to move forward adding that the ploy of using propaganda in selling the administration policies to the public does not arise.

He said: “The ongoing reforms were akin to the situation encountered  by a pregnant woman at the critical stage she was giving birth to a child  with the grueling pain she was feeling, making her to bid farewell to child delivery. We just have to endure and bear the brunt knowing that President Tinubu was up and doing in bailing the citizens out of the economic bondage.

“What is causing ripples across the nation was the issue of subsidy removal. I believe that subsidy has gone for good and that the pain inflicted on the nation would in a matter of time be over.”

He however stated that President Tinubu was ever ready to lend listening ears to constructive advise where inherent lapses were detected, adding that constructive advise in a genuine democratic dispensation were plausible.

He called on media practitioners to imbibe the concept of responsive and responsible journalism for the nation’s nascent democratic system to reach fruition,   pointing out that lending credence to primordial considerations would not augur well for the nation.

Commenting on what the federal government was doing on efforts to restore confidence  in the value of the naira  in the manner it was crashing, the minister said steps were being taken to address the challenges permeating the operations of the nation’s apex bank for sanity to prevail in the system.

He also counseled media practitioners to be circumspect in according priority to the propagation of the atrocities committed by terrorists wreaking havoc on the nation by way of giving them undue publicity to their dubious antics.
