Nigerian, Chadian army chiefs meet on Boko Haram

Nigeria and Chadian military chiefs yesterday met to strategise on how to improve ongoing operation against Boko Haram insurgency and other crimes in the Lake Chad Basin region. Th is was in furtherance of the eff orts of the Lake Chad Basin Commission and Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) towards curbing terrorism in the region. Defence spokesperson, Maj.- Gen. John Enenche, said in a statement that the Chief of Defense staff , Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin stated that the meeting with the Chadian Defense Chief, Lt.- Gen. Mohammad Ibrahim Saed, would be a mutual consultation to enhance cooperation between the two Armed Forces towards clearing the region of Boko Haram activities. Enenche said Olonisakin assured Nigerians and the international community that the Nigerian military would continue to sustain and improve its strategy and operational procedures through the Multinational Joint Task Force and Operation Lafi ya Dole to bring lasting peace to the North-East and theLake Chad Basin. He said the Chadian defence chief reiterated the commitment of his country’s military to the common cause of fi ghting terrorism and all forms of criminalities in the region
