Nigeria to face Guinea in CAF U-17 Women’s W/C Qualifier

Flamingos, the Nigeria Women U17 national team will slug it out against Guinea in February in the CAF U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
Guinea deafeated Guinea-Bissau 8-0 aggregate expectations are high that they will give a yet to be assembled Nigerian team a good run for their money.


Botswana, Guinea, Liberia, Morocco, Tanzania and Uganda have all emerged triumphant from the preliminary round of CAF qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2020.
Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa – the traditional giants of the African women’s game  were drawn in the first round.


The First round fixtures paired Guinea against Nigeria, Zambia versus South Africa, Botswana and Morocco, Tanzania to play Uganda, São Tomé and Príncipe will play Cameroon while  Liberia host Ghana.
With barely a month to the qualifiers, an NFF top official disclosed that a new set of coaches will be named for the women’s teams with camping activities expected to commence in the coming days.


The NFF Technical Director, Bitrus Bewarang told said on Monday “We [Nigeria Football Federation] have made recommendations on the coaches for the women’s national teams,” .
“We are meeting with the NFF Technical Committee to get their approval of the appointments. The technical department, with a group of coaches, have been working to get players within the age bracket.


“I can confirm that the teams will resume their camping preparations on or before Wednesday, January 29 this week.”
A triumph over Guinea will see Nigeria face either Ghana or Liberia in the final round for a place at the 2020 U17 Women’s World Cup scheduled for India from November 2 to 21.
