Nigeria is our home

Nigeria is our country- our home, none other. There is no other place we could call our home, our country other than Nigeria. It is saddening, anyway, that it’s subconsciously in our instinct that whenever we hear something about Nigeria we usually vituperate, flaw and condemn it at a go, this is very unfortunate, no doubt . We have to be patriotic and work relentlessly to bring about the much-desired progress and development in our country.

I was so perplexed when the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami asked all Nigerians to link their National Identity card with their mobile Sim cards all in an effort to address the insecurity situation militating against our country, more especially kidnapping, spate of insurgency and killings that cut across almost all the states of the federation.

Why am I so perplexed and taken aback? I’ve heard many Nigerians saying that linking our national identity card with our Sim cards wouldn’t change anything in the current security situation. This statement shows the extent of ignorance, unpatriotic and pitiful orientation of an average Nigerian.

Why can’t all hands be on deck at these precarious times and stop castigating or putting blames as well as placing curse on the government. We all have a vital role to play in moving our country to the promise land.

Many indelible events beclouded the world last year; the emergence of COVID-19 and sharp, major global economic meltdown. Nigeria is no exception in this regard. What do we lose in wishing the country of our birth well?

Recently also, there’s also an uproar with the recent appointment of the new service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari. Many Nigerians said it’s a welcome development, while some, in contrast, took it out as a chance for mockery.

Moreover, the problem of a place or time-period lies on its inhabitants. Nigerians are the root cause of our seething challenges.

This is a clarion call on all good citizens of our ‘beautiful’ nation to look out for the ways to solve the puzzles we’re yet to unravel in Nigeria. We have no other place to call our country.
