NEMA donates relief materials to fire, flood victims in Yobe

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to victims of potash market fire disaster in Yobe state.

 Presenting the items, the Director General NEMA, Mustapha Maihaja, said they were in Gashua, Yobe state to commiserate with the victims and to also ascertain the level of damages caused.

“We came to commiserate with the victims and to also bring some relief Materials. More intervention will come after the assessment,” he said.

Maihaja also donated second batch of food materials to some victims of flood disaster in Gashua and Nguru.

Blueprint learnt that over 14 local government councils were affected by flood during the 2019 rainy season.

The items donated include roofing sheets, cements, nails, mats, maize, rice, among others.

Some beneficiaries, Halima Adamu and Abubakar Hamza thanked NEMA for the gesture and asked for more donations.

Potash worth N200 million was destroyed by the inferno on 16rh November, 2019 in Gashua town of Yobe state.
