NCP adopts LP presidential candidate

The National Conscience Party (NCP), has adopted the Labour Party’s presidential flag bearer ex-governor Peter Obi and his Vice, Senator Datti Baba Ahmed as its choice for the forth coming February 25th presidential election.

The party said though the party is still battling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in court over alleged deregistration, the NCP through a statement by its National Secretary VC Odemejemba said it would mobilise its members and supporters nationwide to canvass and vote for the Labour Party candidature because it shares Peter Obi’s philosophy and manifesto.

The statement noted that the NCP National Chairman had stepped down to concentrate on his current position as a spokesman of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.

It stated that the party reviewed deeply the 7 Point Agenda of Peter Obi and Datti Baba Ahmad and concluded that it was good enough to transform Nigeria.

According to NCP; “As captured in the 72 pages manifesto tagged it is possible our pact with Nigerians. This is in consonant with the slogan of the NCP of abolition of poverty and 10 care programmes.

“Our focus is to ensure that wealth is created through sectors that improve the wellbeing of all Nigerians. Our theory of change is Democratic Citizenship.”

It said the adoption of Peter Obi has been officially communicated to the party despite the fact that it had been working with the Labour Party under the big tent arrangement.
