NAHCON moves against illegal hajj operators

National Hajji Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced oversight functions to all the offices of hajj tour operators across the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The visit by the commission, Blueprint gathered, was carried out to verify documents and licenses issued to them following reports that the presidency had directed NAHCON to commence visitation exercise to bring sanity to the day to day activities of hajji tour operators nationwide.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorinyesterday, the leader of NAHCON delegation to Kwara state, Alhaji Alidu Shutti, said that the commission was determined to ensure a hitch-free hajj operations for all the intending pilgrims that passed through all licensed tour operators in the country.

Shutti, who is the Head of Tour Operators at NAHCON said that the commission decided to go out from Abuja to access the suitability of all the hajj tour operators and to fish out those that had been illegally operating on the name of the commission in the country.
He said that the commission was concerned about how the hajj tour operators have been complying with the rules and regulations guiding their license.
Shutti, who noted that the delegation had visited all the hajj tour operators in the state, stressed that findings would be communicated to the affected operators.
The leader of the delegation, who had earlier visited the state police command and director of the state security service, solicited the support of the two security agencies in the task ahead.
The state police commissioner, Mr. Olusola Amore, advised NAHCON to embark on public enlightenment program that would guide the intending hajj pilgrims on the best way to go about having successful hajj operation.
Amore also urged NAHCON to encourage feedback from members of the public in order to ensure that their guidelines are being strictly followed
