Morocco beats Indonesia 3-1, qualifies for U-17 World Cup knockout stage

Morocco’s Under-17 National Football Team has booked its ticket for the U-17 World Cup’s knockout stage after beating Indonesia 3-1 in Matchday 3 of the group stage at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.

With one loss against Ecuador and two wins against Panama and Indonesia, the Atlas Lions led Group A with six points.

Atlas Lion Anas Alaoui scored Morocco’s opening goal in today’s game in the 29th minute through a penalty kick. Less than 10 minutes later, Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal scored the team’s second goal.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s Muhammad Nabil Asyura scored his team’s first goal in the 42nd minute of the game.

Mohammed Zine El Abidine Hamony scored Morocco’s third goal in the 64th minute.

Morocco displayed a strong performance, dominating possession of the ball throughout the game.

The tournament’s draw has placed the national team in group A, alongside Panama, Ecuador, and Indonesia.

Ecuador finished second in the group standings with five points after drawing with Pamana 1-1 today. The team also draw with Indonesia 1-1 last week while it defeated Morocco 2-0 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Indonesia and Panama were eliminated from the tournament after finishing third and fourth respectively in the group’s standings following today’s matches.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup is taking place in four Indonesian cities between November 10 and Saturday 2, with the participation of 24 teams representing six confederations.
