Minister tasks corps members on agric devt strategies

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Muhammad Bello, has tasked the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to focus on strategies to better agriculture in their host community. Bello who was represented by the head of FCT agriculture secretariat, Mr Oladimeji Hassan, gave the charge yesterday at the closing out ceremony of 2018 batch ‘B’ orientation course of corps members posted to the FCT. This according to him will make them employers of labour, saying the ten days meticulous lectures and hand-on trainings under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme was an added resources to their empowerment and capacity development towards self-sufficiency and self-reliance. “As you receive your posting letter, you must focus on developing strategies on how to better the lives of the people in your host communities. Particularly in the areas of agriculture, health services, education, ICT and rural development, bearing in mind that the government recognises outstanding performances of mostly those that serves in the rural communities. “Let me re-emphasize my earlier warning on criminality. Stay away from all form of social vices avoid unauthorised journeys and unnecessary socialization at night even during the day. Many have met their untimely demise by ignoring these warnings,” he said.
