Bandits kill 2 police officers, 1 vigilante in Zamfara 

A group of terrorists  Monday attacked Zurmi town, the headquarters of Zurmi local government council of Zamfara state, killed two police officers and one vigilante member.

A resident in the area, Muhammad Sulaiman, told our correspondent via telephone call interview that the terrorists stormed the town at around 2:00 pm in the afternoon of Monday and opened fire on people at random.

He said, the bandits besieged the town in their large numbers riding motorcycles with heavy weapons during the incident.

“We were busy taking shelter at Nasarawa Zurmi area, only to hear gunshots by the terrorists.

He said the bandits attacked police divisional office in the area where they short two officers, Ibrahim and Kabiru Shikkau on the spot.

Sulaiman who narrowly escaped during the attack further stated that many were injured during the incident.

Zurmi local government has been attacked by armed bandits and in April, they attempted to kidnap the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Bello Muhammed Bunu, kidnapped three others  and killed three during the invasion.

Efforts to reach the state police command public relations officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar on the matter failed.
