Maritime security: Only inter-agency collaboration’ll sustain govt’s effort – Jamoh

The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh has said tnter-agency collaboration is key to isustaining efforts to curb criminal activities in the Nigerian waters and the Gulf of Guinea (GoG).

Jamoh, who said this when he played host to the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP); Major General (rtd) Barry Ndiomu at the headquarters of the Agency in Lagos.

NIMASA, Osagie Edwards, in a statement made available to journalists Wednesday, said, the NIMASA boss hailed the visit, describing it as timely as it would serve as a wake-up call on the need for synergy between the Amnesty Office and the agency saying thatt it will help sustain efforts at policing Nigerians waters.

Accordingly, he said; “Nigeria has received several commendations from the international community for the visible successes achieved in addressing insecurity in our maritime domain. As such, they are watching to see if we can sustain the tempo, hence the Agency’s willingness to partner with the Presidential Amnesty Programme and other relevant bodies”.

Earlier in his remarks, Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd) called on NIMASA to fashion out workable and sustained partnerships towards creating opportunities for teeming youths in the Niger Delta region.
