Lagos man conveying gun to Anambra nabbed in Edo

Operatives of Edo state police command monitoring unit has intercepted a suspect who was conveying gun from Lagos to Anambra state.

The suspect, 22, was reportedly apprehended with the exhibit during a stop-and-search duty of vehicles along the Lagos-Benin expressway by Ovia river in Edo state.

In a statement issued on Monday by the state police command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, identified the suspect as Francis Obima Okoye.

Nwabuzor said: “the suspect was  intercepted in a commercial bus loaded with passengers from Lagos State heading to Anambra State.”

According to him, “during the search, the following items

concealed in a small bag were recovered from Francis Obinna Okoye of No 26 Jatto Street, Okolo, Lagos State.”

The police spokesman added that “the suspect made statement and confessed one Emma whose surname is unknown gave him the gun to threaten his uncle Mr. Paul Okoye who was alleged to have

killed his father with chams.

“And on Monday 08/04/2024, the operatives took the suspect to Lagos State to arrest Mr. Paul Okoye. 

“When the operatives got to Lagos State, they found out that the suspect lied to them. He will soon be process to court.”
