Kwara gov’s wife tasks ladies on skills acquisition before marriage

Wife of the Kwara state Governor, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, has counselled young ladies to acquire vocational skills in addition to their education before going into marriage in order to be self-reliant. She said for ladies to be successful mothers and “measure up to the challenges of the contemporary world, they must rise above board.”

Th e governor’s wife spoke while declaring open, the 2017 Annual Zonal Youth camp of the Federation of Muslims Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOAMWAN), South-West Zone B currently on-going in Ilorin, the theme “Youth As an Agent of Positive Change.” Th e zone comprised Ekiti, Kwara, Osun, Lagos, Ondo and Kogi states. Represented by the Commissioner for Women Aff airs, Hajia Asiat Ayinke Saka, the governor’s wife advised participants at the week-long camp to take advantage of the vocational training opportunities in the state. She said the Ministry of Women Aff airs had 22 diff erent trades “in which young girls can lay their hands in order to be successful mothers.” Chairman of the occasion and chief press secretary to the Kwara state Governor, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, advised parents to prioritise their children and wards. He regretted that communal up-bringing which in the past aided the society in the proper upbringing of children had been relegated. FOAMWAN Zonal Coordinator, Hajia Nimatalllahi Salam, said he camp was organised to unite youth and groom the youth to be successful mothers and leaders.
