Professor Abubakar Musa Kundiri has emerged new vice-chancellor Federal University Dutse (FUD), the appointment takes effect from February, 2016.
Announcing the new VC in a press briefing yesterday, the Pro-chancellor and the chairman governing council of the university, Professor Taoheed Adedoja, said the choice of the new VC took them time and rigour before settling for Kundiri.
According to him, 84 professors across public, private and state universities including lecturers had applied for the job.
He added that of the number, 24 were short listed through equity, fairness and justice.
He said among the 24 professors, the three best were screened to make the final list in which Kundiri scored 91.2 percent to defeat two others who scored 81.4 and 70 percent respectively.
Commending the outgoing VC, Professor Jibirilla Dahiru Amin, Adedaja described him as the pace setter who laid the institution on a solidified foundation, making it the best among its generation.
The pro-chancellor stressed that, “it is not about the office, but the occupier of the office. J.D Amin, the pioneer VC of this University has done well and anybody coming has no choice than to continue with the developments”.
He, therefore, urged that every lecturer or professor, staff, management or student must be Information Communication Technology (ICT) compliance.
